Lacan’s 18th seminar marks an inflection point as he moved from the ‘discursive’ aspect of psychoanalytic experience and the articulation of surplus-jouissance, to a teaching that came, increasingly, to focus on logic, topology, sexual difference, poetics and language, and the limits of the Oedipal paradigm.
We aim to take readers through the seminar, chapter by chapter, giving readings of key themes delivered by several psychoanalysts working in the Lacanian tradition, and each with their own particular interests.
Whilst the course will not be aimed at beginners, minimal prior knowledge will be assumed, and all interested in the study of Lacan are welcome
